Another Toy Library opens in Hungary! Partners Hungary Foundation, in a consortium partnership with Józsefváros Kindergartens, Nadacia Skola Dokoran from Slovakia and the Czech Open Society Foundation, has won a grant for the development of Toy Libraries in Hungary under the "Visegrad Grants" competition. The long-term goal of the project is to establish and support 6 Toy Libraries in 6 municipalities in the V4 countries, using the evidence-based Toy for Inclusion approach.

What is the aim of the programme and who is involved?

Our aim is to:
  • engaging hard-to-reach children and their families in quality, inclusive, non-formal, community-based early childhood education and learning initiatives,
  • facilitate their smooth transition to primary education,
  • improve their educational experience and performance in the long term.

The Toy Libraries are designed and run by local action teams made up of representatives from local education, health and social services. We pride ourselves on creating another developmental and community opportunity, using play as a universal tool to support children's optimal development

We create opportunities - mostly for those in need, but for all children and families in the community - to play, talk, create and, as they grow, experience community, belonging and their own individual identities.
We are very fond of the programme, as we can already see how much a Toy Library can become part of the local community, whose acquisition plan, opening hours and programmes - in accordance with local needs and development objectives - have been drawn up by professionals who are responsible for the preservation of children's physical, mental and spiritual health and development, their learning and institutional education.
