Conflicts are inherent in human interactions. How we manage these conflicts is therefore crucial. Aggression in the school environment has been much discussed in recent years, as it is a serious problem in many schools around the world. Conflict, aggression and bullying are present at all levels of education - from primary to higher education - and represent a multifaceted problem<\/b>. School aggression and bullying have a very negative impact on the physical, mental and social well-being of young people, and play a role in early school leaving and even in becoming a criminal. The ASAP - Partnership Against Aggression in Schools project was implemented based on the concept of the Partners Hungary Foundation's professional team, between October 2015 and August 2018, in 9 schools, in cooperation with SOS Malta, Partners Bulgaria Foundation and Szolnok Service Vocational Training Centre. The project was funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union.<\/p>\n

ASAP aims to create a safe, caring and responsible school environment to reduce aggression and bullying in schools<\/b>, and aims to establish and strengthen cooperation between institutions dealing with student communities.\u00a0Existing and proven methods\u00a0<\/b>we have developed a model school-wide programme. The programme provides accessible and easy-to-use tools to reduce violence and bullying in schools and has been tested in 9 secondary schools in three participating countries, Hungary, Bulgaria and Malta.
\nThe programme offers alternative conflict management, implementation procedures and restorative methods tailored to the school environment.<\/p>\n

This handbook is a practical account of how the programme has been implemented in 9 different school settings, and how alternative conflict management techniques have been integrated into the daily life of schools. It is not a ready-made recipe but a guide to the possible use of the elements. The elements can be used separately, but work best as part of a process. The handbook is intended for those who would like to implement a similar programme in their school: principals, teachers and other professionals involved in education.<\/p>\n
The handbook is a collection of case studies of how the programme has been implemented in 9 secondary schools. Clear sections and icons indicating areas of intervention are provided to aid reading.<\/p>\n
